About Me

How it Started

Hello there! My name is Kittiya Allen, but you can call me Kitt. I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Chiang Mai, Thailand, where I developed a deep love and appreciation for the environment. After graduating from the British International School Phuket in 2019, I made the life-changing decision to move to Australia in early January 2020, to further my education and pursue my passion for environmental science.

Although homesickness can be challenging at times, moving to Australia with my best friend has made the transition much easier. I've been able to experience new activities and a different way of life, which has reinforced my desire to live and grow in this country. Despite being more than 7,800 kilometers away from home, this move has pushed me out of my comfort zone, allowing me to discover more about myself and appreciate the things that truly matter in life.

As an environmental science enthusiast, I'm excited to continue my academic journey at Griffith University. I believe that this institution will provide me with the knowledge, skills, and network needed to make a meaningful contribution to environmental sustainability. I'm looking forward to exploring different opportunities, meeting new people, and finding my place in the world of environmental science.

Why Environmental Science?

As an environmental science graduate, my passion for environmental sustainability was ignited by a teacher who took over my Environmental Systems and Science class. This teacher had a genuine love for biology and the environment, which was reflected in his teaching style and the way he conveyed information to us. Under his guidance, I was inspired to pursue my dreams and passions, which led me to Griffith University.

Although the transition was challenging as the subject matter was more advanced, I was able to adapt and push through because of my passion for the environment. As I delved deeper into my studies, my passion only grew stronger. I became fascinated by the interconnectivity of our environment and how even the smallest changes could have significant impacts.

One of the most transformative experiences during my studies was a course on Ecotoxicology and Impact Assessment. This course allowed me to learn about environmental impact assessment and ecotoxicology, which opened my eyes to the challenges that exist in the environmental sector. The course also helped me to envision a career as an environmental consultant, where I could use my skills and expertise to help mitigate environmental risks and promote sustainable practices. Overall, my studies at Griffith University allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the complex environmental issues facing our planet and how I could contribute to creating a more sustainable future.
